Aaron the Pirate

This painting of my gentle and intelligent brother, Aaron, was the quickest painting of this size that I have yet to complete. The self-taught journey of artistry for me has meant loads of self-criticism and setting realistic goals to improve upon each painting I sequentially make. In the summer of 2021, the obsession of improvement at the time was speed. I looked at all the artists on social media and wondered how in the world they could produce so much new content each and every week…I now know that it takes practice, the right style of painting and freedom from a “real job” to crank them out like that. While I finished this 12x12 painting, for a Halloween collection in under 2 days and met a personal goal for growth, how much more amazing would a painting of Aaron be if I spent 40-60 hours on him instead of 10? I cannot WAIT to paint him in his element one day, not posing for an imagined scenario- but tossing his blond locks around on stage while lovingly playing his guitar. Oh. And I can’t wait to create a complete Halloween collection for you all to enjoy.
