Emma’s eyes light up and her heart beats faster at the thought of tomato egg noodles- after trying this dish I felt such a connection to that feeling. Some foods just take us home! Capturing that first bite of her favorite comfort dish, taking her back to childhood in China with her American family just seemed like the move in 2020 when I started this painting. I chipped away at this work almost a whole year and I felt the magic of every bite with every brushstroke. She is the Noodle Queen.
